Proposal

This is one of the pearls of the major tourism travel in South America.

Walking the stunn mountain range south of Peru to Machu Picchu is a unique adventure. 
We propose to do it by a less traveled and most rugged route; with the highest Pass. A trekking through the Salkantay Nevado, a journey that impacts.

 

Schedule

 

Day 1 (Saturday): Saturday. Flight to Cusco (via Lima). Plane Ticket cost not included. Check in at hostel. Free afternoon to begin the acclimatization and walk the historical district.

 

Day 2 (Sunday): Free day in Cusco and surroundings. Several options according to your preference. We continue to adjust to the altitude.

 

Day 3 (Monday): Early departure for the first day of trekking expedition. Transfer from Cusco to the town of Mollepata. We will load the equipment on horses to start the walk to Cruz Pata where we arrive at 12:00 for lunch. Later, continue walking towards Soraypampa, located at 3850. First camp.

 

Day 4 (Tuesday): (Soraypampa - Salkantay - Huayrac Pampa - Chaullay). We begin the hardest part of the trek, visiting the place called Pampa Salkantay. Then take the left side of the snowy Umantay which is located on the side of Salkantay. Around noon we will be in the highest point, Salkantay Umantay pass 4500 m. Observe the Salkantay glacier and after an hour of rest, have lunch in the area called Huayrac Pampa. Later, will continue the walk for four hours in descent to Chaullay located at 2900 m where we will set camp for the second night.

 

Day 5 (Wednesday): (Chaullay - La Playa - Santa Teresa). After breakfast we start a walk of five hours. On the way we cross the village of Collpabamba located in the rain forest where we can see waterfalls and a variety of plants and flowers before reaching the area called La Playa where a transfer will take us to Santa Teresa (1650masl) here we´ll have lunch and camp. 

  • Optional you can spend the rest of the day till dinner in Hot Springs

Day 6 (Thursday): (Santa Teresa - Hydroelectric power station - Aguas Calientes) Around 8:00 we will begin an hour hike to the "Oroya" (hanging wire system across the river). On the way we will see Machu Picchu in the distance for the first time. After crossing the river, walk for an hour to get to the Hydroelectric where we will rest and have lunch. In the afternoon, take the 15:10 train to Aguas Calientes where we´ll arrive at 16:00. Overnight at hostel.

 

Day 7 (Friday): (Aguas Calientes - Machu Picchu - Cusco). In the morning we will have a guided tour of the citadel of Machu Picchu (about 2 hours 30) during which we´ll visit the Main Plaza, the Circular Tower, the Solar Clock, the royal apartments, the Temple and cemeteries. Free time to explore around the citadel or visit Huayna Picchu. Lunch. In the afternoon, at 15:30 or 16:00 train back to Cusco or mini-bus. On arrival, transfer to hostel.

 

Day 8 (Saturday): Free at Cusco and end of the program. Options: Air return; another day in Cusco with excursions; continue the program into the Cordillera Blanca (Santa Cruz-LLanganuco trekking, Huaraz area, central Peru).
