Proposal

Piedra Parada is one of the most popular climbing destinations in Argentina, with a wide variety of sectors with high quality rock and impressive views. The Cañadón de La Buitrera is one of the most recognized sectors, with routes ranging from 4 to a proposed 9a in difficulty. The Piedra Parada rock formation, which is more than 150 million years old, is composed of enormous basalt walls that have attracted climbers from all over the world and even hosted one of the most important climbing festivals in the world, the Petzl Roctrip. 2012.

Itinerary

Day 1: Meeting in Esquel. Transfer by charter vehicle to Piedra Parada (approximately 5 hours).

Registration and camping.

Day 2: Climbing in La Buitrera

  • We walk to the climbing area
  • Rock climbing all day.
  • Return to camp at sunset to rest and have dinner


Day 3: Climbing in La Buitrera

  • We walk to the climbing area
  • Rock climbing all day
  • Return to camp at sunset to rest and have dinner


Day 4: Rest and tourism

  • We walk to the climbing area
  • Optional rock climbing, or rest day.
  • Return to camp at sunset to rest and have dinner


Day 5: Climbing in La Buitrera

  • We walk to the climbing area
  • Rock climbing all day
  • Return to camp at sunset to rest and have dinner


Day 6: Last climb and return

  • We walked to a nearby climbing area.
  • Rock climbing during the morning
  • Return to camp for lunch
  • Transfer back to Esquel, arrival in the afternoon. End of program

Do you need to know how to climb?

A minimum level of climbing, in previous outings with us or that you have done before.

Minimum age to participate?

13/14 years old accompanied by an adult

Required equipment

EQUIPMENT

  • Small trekking backpack (40 to 50 liters)
  • Bag to carry the equipment on a trip
  • Warm sleeping bag (-5 comfort)


FEET

  • 1 Trekking boots (waterproof)
  • 1 extra light spare shoe


FIRST LAYER (First skin)

  • changes of underwear.
  • Cotton t-shirts (for being in the shelter and for sleeping)
  • short-sleeved synthetic t-shirts and/or t-shirts
  • Long-sleeved synthetic t-shirt
  • Polypropylene or similar pants or leggings (not cotton). To use as warm inner pants
  • Multifunction Buff type scarf

SECOND LAYER (Coat)

  • pairs of Trekking socks (synthetic-thermal)
  • Polars and/or light down jacket
  • Some cotton or wool socks (wool is used for sleeping)
  • 2 long trekking pants.
  • Fleece type gloves
  • Warm hat (fleece)

THIRD LAYER (windproof and waterproof)

  • Waterproof jacket (ultrex or gore tex or similar)

PERSONAL ITEMS

  • Document.
  • Medical insurance

  • FRONT flashlight with batteries (with spare batteries).
  • Resistant plastic bags for storing clothes.
