Multiadventure in Payunia, Caverna de las Brujas, Manqui Malal, Malargue - Mendoza

The south province of Mendoza is one of the mostmagnificent place in the region of Cuyo. It still holds a virgin mountain that offers a variety of  amazing shapes. “La Pyunia”,  the largest  volcanic reserve in the world is one of its many offers. As well as marine fossils at Manqui Malal, and La Caverna de las Brujas (The Witches Cavern). The trip includes horseback riding and a mountain bike excursion.

The journey invites you to witness these marvels and taking part of  interesting activities always in touch with nature.

 Schedule

What we present to you is the tour foresee of the journey, but the exacts journey, the long of every step and the election of alternative itineraries remain attach to the climate conditions and the evaluation of the group by the guides 

 Day 1: The service will leave from Buenos Aires at 20hs approx.

Day 2 (Sunday): The meeting is in San Rafel then we will relocate to Los Molles, an oasis in the middle of the mountain. We will have a snack and from there we will go trekking… In the afternoon we will return to Malargüe and stay at the hostel (ask for the hotel options) where we will have dinner and spend the night.

Day 3: After breakfast the day will be dedicated to visit one of the most renown attractions, Los Castillos de Pincheira (the castells of Picheira) near the river Malargüe.

First, we will visit the top of the castles to appreciate the view in a short walk. We will have a snack and in the afternoon we’ll go horseback riding to the bottom of the valleys. In the evening we will return to Malargüe where we will have dinner and spend the night.

 Day 4: we begin the day with a nice breakfast, our program includes the excursion to visit the volcano reserve of La Payunia, as mentioned earlier, the largest reserve of the world. We will leave early in the morning to return at night, because it going to be a long trekking excursion. Also, it will be possible to do some be bird-watching and see the impressive ancient volcanos. This place is considered part of the World Heritage. Then we will return to Malargüe where we will have dinner and spend the night.    

Day 5: In the morning after breakfast, we will go to the complex of Manqui Malal to be a part of a paleontology trekking excursion and analyze fossils that were left behind by an ancient sea that covered the region. We will also encounter 2 typical cascades of this location: “la Dorada” and “la de Plata”. After lunch, we will visit the deep “Caverna de las Brujas”,, one of the biggest caverns in America, and then we will continue to go for a two hours tour guide of an speleologist excursion . Then we will return to Malargüe where we will have dinner and spend the night.   

Day 6: After breakfast, we will leave on an excursion for the “Atuel Superior” valley going by “El Sosneado”.  We will visit the old hotel from El Sosneado and their thermals springs (attending the springs is optional) ,the lagoon from El Sosneado,  the mountain and finally, we will go to the ”Valle de las Lágrimas”, the valley where the unfortunate event of the Uruguayans rugby players’ plane crash occurred. Then will have lunch and in the afternoon we will return to Malargüe where we will have dinner and spend the night.   

Day 7: Breakfast Day 7 will be a free day for you to attend the excursion or activity you desire.

We here suggest several options:

• - Biking tour on rural tracks,

• - Visit to the trout breeding center,

• - Visit to the astronomic observatory

• -  Excursion to Malacara volcano.

Or have a nice walk around the town.

Day 8 (Saturday): after we have a nice breakfast, we will end the services provided by Argentina Extrema.

We offer to return at midday by bus or you may continue to make the excursion of the day, or if you want to extend the trip, you may join any of the  adventures we offer:

1.   Horseback riding Cruce de los Andes

2.  Trekking and going up the El Sosneado Mountain (500 m above sea level).
