Hike Through the Last Edge of the Earth
Traversing a stretch of the last breath of South America is more than just an adventure. It is one of the most isolated and hostile environments where very few humans have ventured. The Mitre Peninsula features unique natural and cultural characteristics, including colonies of birds, marine mammals, bogs, wetlands, and evidence of indigenous presence as well as the early explorations of Tierra del Fuego Island.
This is a trekking journey with all the elements: crossing rivers, walking with wet feet, camping on beaches next to the world’s southernmost sea, climbing mountains at the epilogue of the Andes Mountain Range, and appreciating both landscapes and cultural-paleontological riches. Historically, this area was inhabited by the indigenous Haush and Selknam (Onas) peoples.
