History
The creation of the tourist village dates from 1920s. Large number of visitors coming from Buenos Aires through the railway lines. The Railway Station Sarmiento served Villa Epecuén, while the Midland Railway and the Southern Railway carried passengers to the station Carhué.
Thus tourism is developed in Epecuén, reaching 5,000 declared  seats and 2,000 undeclared seats.
They were 280 establishments, including lodging, boarding houses, hotels and businesses that came to receive in the decades from 1950 to 1970-25000 tourists from November to March. The villa came to own 1,500 permanent inhabitants.
November 10th  1985 the enormous flow of water broke the stone and earth embankment, and inundated large part of the town. The villa disappeared. By 1986, the town had 4 meters. of water in the streets, arriving in 1993 to more than 10 mts. The post was taken by the people of Carhuédespite when the Villa Epecuén get lost were not hotels or places to stay in Carhué.
In 2001, Carhué faced the project Termas de Carhué with more than 700 spaces, museums, agritourism and farms, ecological tourism and historical.
